Community Partner
Neema Village
Neema Village is a sanctuary for hope and empowerment for rescued babies and their families. Located in the heart of Tanzania, they are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where vulnerable children and families can thrive. Through a holistic approach, they offer a safe haven for abandoned, malnourished and vulnerable babies. With programs to empower women and moms- they create pathways to a brighter future. By educating women on safe birthing practices and giving them opportunities to create sustainable income, they are changing lives one story at a time.
How We
Work Together
Northbound Foundation and Neema Village have teamed up to make an even greater impact on the women and children of Tanzania. Through a God-inspired journey, we met Dorris & Michael, the founders of Neema Village. Their commitment to the community such as reuniting children with extended families and promoting in-country adoptions aligns with our vision of empowering women and children. Additionally, Neema Village empowers women through education, vocational training, and spiritual guidance, fostering hope and sustainability within the community.
Our main collaboration is through the building of Furaha Field. Furaha means joy because this soccer field will bring joy to the community around Neema Village. We believe this field will empower women, equip children and build relationships for Neema to uplift more families. This project will also create more opportunities for Neema Village to share their programs and services with the community by bringing them to the soccer field and sharing what they offer such as vocational training, childbirth education, and resources for moms to be self-reliant.
Impact of
Our Collaboration
Orphan Prevention: Through Neema Village’s programs to support babies and moms, we can be certain that families receive what they need to thrive. Their “Save the Mothers” Program teaches birth attendants safe birthing practices to decrease maternal mortality.
Women’s Empowerment: Through the MAP project at Neema Village, women receive help, guidance, counseling, and financial services so that they can work their way out of poverty and provide income for themselves & their families. As a result, women can provide better nutrition and improved living conditions for their families and also pay for their children’s education.
Right to Play: With the collaboration of Neema Village and the Michael G Bloom Foundation, the Furaha Soccer Field will provide women and children a safe place to play. With designated play hours for both women and girls, they will get the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of team sports.
Childhood Development: Safe places to play and build relationships are crucial to children’s development. Through our joint collaboration, we will provide a safe place for children to play soccer, grow friendships, be coached and find spiritual enrichment.
Through this partnership, we are bringing a designated safe play space to this community, as well as empowering the lives of women and children who need the support of a family. The collaboration between Northbound Foundation and Neema Village underscores the profound impact of play and partnership in fostering lasting change.
